Another year at Tahoe. We are blessed to be able to go to Tahoe's north shore, every year in August. Kirk's parents have had a time share there for thirty eight years, since before my husband, Kirk, was born. Every year is wonderful, but some years are especially great and this was one of them. There was a great balance of trips taken and days spent around the lake and at the condo. I look forward to this every year.
Every year we swim in the lake to this bouy below. It is so dang cold in that lake, it takes your breath away, as in you feel like your dying. But, of course the kids get in like it's bath water. They love getting in the lake and then running to the pool and jumping in.
This place that houses their time share is called Brockway Springs. It's a gated community, located on King's Beach. This is the pool and it's unreal. It overlooks the lake. It's the best. The kids can go down to the lake and fish for crawdads, swim in the lake or play on the rocks and we can see them from the pool.
Grandpa Rick and William. This year my dad was able to reserve a place in Brockway Springs. He was a few units away. We had a great time, all of us together.
Sunday pictures is a tradition. We take them on the church lawn and then sometimes around the rocks down on the grass of our unit. Below are nine of Ken and Lesly's forty "some odd" grandchildren, including great grandchildren. What you see below is nothing. There are tons of them. :)
The men.

This year we went to Sand Harbor twice! It's my favorite destination in Tahoe. It's like the Hawaii of Tahoe. I love it so much. There is no more relaxing, beautiful, picturesque place.

Back at the condo you can imagine the events. Game playing, movies, cards, eating, goofing around, playing in the loft, and on and on.
This is the lawn in front of the condo. It over looks the lake. This year every evening after dinner the adults and kids would play "pickle." It's my kids' favorite game to play with their dad. Instead of playing with baseballs they play with a Frisbee that they actually throw to tag the runners. We had a blast.

But I'm safe! Barely! My husband still took the opportunity to tag my bum... :)

Until next year, beautiful Tahoe, wonderful family, friends, memories, laughter, food, late nights, relaxing, pool and happiness...we will miss it all and can't wait for another year in Tahoe. We love you mom and dad, for your hospitality and kindness to always let us tag along. Some of our best memories have been made in...Tahoe. xoxoxoxoxoxxo

These two look like an old married couple.
She's calling him out on the left for trying to tease her during the picture. They got it together on the right side... :)

The Frisbee is about to tag me...

All my childhood memories flooding back! So happy for you that you have this opportunity. How amazing to have such a large family. Come by and see my baby! K
ReplyDeleteLooks like such an amazing trip!! Makes me want to turn my kids into little fishes, too, so we can enjoy trips like this. Love the pictures. Glad you guys are back, though. Sundays in our ward's just aren't the same without the Klippels. :)
ReplyDeleteso fun!! and nice your dad was there, too! beautiful pictures. I am loving Kalen's swimming suit. It' so cute. and William looks a lot older!
ReplyDeleteWe were there at the same time only on the south shore, Richardson's RV and across the street at Manzanita Inn. Sand Harbor is Liz's favorite beach too. They went every Monday when they lived in Reno. Do they have more than one ward in Tahoe. We were all at church on Sunday too.
ReplyDeleteDear Shauna, Oh how I love all these happy people and happy pictures. You are blessed to have so many members of your family, and friends. It looks like a lovely holiday, and Lake Tahoe is truly beautiful. Your country is so vast and different. I adore the pictures of you guys in the water and playing the frisbee game, so much fun. Glad to have you back - much love Axxx
ReplyDeleteHow is it that kids don't have sensitivity to heat/cold like adults? I am so jealous that your kids can just jump into that water. It is soo cold!! It looks like you guys had such a wonderful time. Love seeing all your pictures. My favorite is the one of you and a few of your kids on the side of the pool, it's so cute. Hope you guys are enjoying the last few days of summer.

ReplyDeleteOnce again, I am about a thousand days overdue on this comment. And since Labor Day has passed and summer is "sort of" over, this is all the more bittersweet.
ReplyDelete1. CONGRATULATIONS ON WINNING YOUR RACE! Shauna, I am just so proud of you that I could burst - that is a Big Deal.
2. What a gorgeous vacation. I am so glad that Tahoe was everything you wanted it to be and everything you needed it to be. To share those special ritual summer moments is just so special - we have those at the cabin. Your children will cherish it forever.
3. Everyone just looks like they have shot up like weeds over the past few months! Wonderful and alarming all at once. They do not stop with the growing, do they?
Lots of love from MN!
